| How can I learn more about the licensing
process?
The licensing process varies from province to province.
A starting point for understanding the licensing process
would be the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada website
www.pebc.ca
as well as the website of the National Association of
Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities www.napra.ca
Each of these websites also has links to the Pharmacist
Regulating body for each province. Please also review
the licensing section
of our website which provides a detailed outline of
the licensing process.
How do I become a Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacist?
If you are living in Canada, we will consider your
application only when you have passed all of the
PEBC examinations. Please do not contact the Pharmacy Recruitment Specialist until you have completed
all of the PEBC exams, including the MCQ and OSCE.
Once you have completed all the Qualifying exams, please email the Pharmacy Recruitment Specialist in your region here
with your resume and cover letter indicating the
region in which you would like to work. It should
be noted that most of our opportunities will be
in smaller communities, outside of the larger
cities (ie: nothing available in Toronto).
Due to the high number of resumes received we
regret that we are unable to contact applicants
further, unless your competencies and location
preferences reflect our needs. Preference will
be given to candidates who are located in, or
are willing to relocate to areas in which we have
the greatest need. No phone calls please.
If you have not completed all PEBC exams then
you can only work as a Pharmacy Technician or
Pharmacist Assistant and our Associate-Owners
are responsible for their own hiring. Please contact
stores directly with a copy of your resume. You
can find a list of stores on our website at www.shoppersdrugmart.ca
under the store finder tab. If applying in person
at a store, always introduce yourself and ask
the Associate-Owner if they have time available
to talk with you for a few minutes or if they
would prefer you come back at a set time.
If you are offered a position as a technician,
please contact the Pharmacy Recruitment Specialist to introduce yourself and to provide
the store number or name of the Associate-Owner
you are working for, so that you can be advised
of potential opportunities for training or considered
for a future position as a pharmacist with our
organization.
Does Shoppers Drug Mart provide financial
assistance with the licensing exams?
Yes. Shoppers Drug Mart will reimburse International
Pharmacy Graduates that successfully pass the
required exams and have signed a contract to work
with Shoppers Drug Mart for a period of time after
they become licensed to practice in Canada.
How can I get work as a technician as I progress
through the licensing process?
If you are in Canada and have permission to
work in Canada, please directly contact the Shoppers
Drug Mart stores that you might like to work at
as the stores hire directly for Pharmacy Technicians/Assistants.
The Corporate office does not hire for these positions.
Please do not contact the International Recruitment
Coordinator for a Pharmacy Technician/Assistant
position. For a list of store locations, please
use the store
finder tool.
Who do I talk to if I have any questions about
becoming a Canadian licensed Pharmacist?
If you require more information on licensing, work
permit issues or how to find a Preceptor, please
e mail your inquiry to the Pharmacy Recruitment Specialist who will respond as soon as possible.
If you are applying for a position, we thank you
for your interest but must advise that due to the high
number of applications we receive we regret that we
are unable to contact applicants further, unless your
competencies and location preferences reflect our need
s. Preference will be given to candidates who are located
in, or are willing to relocate to areas in which we
have the greatest need . No phone calls please.
