OSCE EXAM COURSE
Shoppers Drug Mart conducts a one-week training program
to assist our International Pharmacists in preparing
specifically for Part II of the Qualifying Exam,
which is also known as the Objective Structured
Clinical Examination (OSCE) component. The training
session is scheduled to run prior to the PEBC
exam in May and in November.
The training sessions focus on the major competency
areas required for pharmacists to practice in
Canada. The program is a very interactive program,
which will provide you with many opportunities
to apply your learning in preparation for the
exam. You may be asked to do some minor preparation
(short pre-readings or activities) before attending
some of the sessions. The last day of training
will be structured as a ‘mock’ OSCE.
The mock OSCE will incorporate a combination of
interactive stations, involving ‘standardized
patients’, and non-interactive stations,
in order to simulate an example of typical scenarios
that may be evaluated during the actual OSCE component
of the PEBC exams.
MCQ EXAM COURSE
Shoppers Drug Mart currently conducts a two-day
seminar covering 8 major therapeutic areas:
hypertension, depression, heart failure, diabetes,
arthritis, cholesterol, asthma and common infectious
diseases. While this training seminar is not specifically
designed to improve your success on Part 1 of
the Qualifying Exam of the Pharmacy Examining
Board of Canada (PEBC), it is thought that increased
exposure to therapeutic content covering these
major disease states may be of benefit to your
exam preparation. The training sessions are scheduled
to run prior to the PEBC exam in May and in November.
These training courses are only open to individuals
currently on contract with a Shoppers Drug Mart
Associate-Owner. In addition, positions for the
training are extremely limited. Not everyone who
applies will be able to attend the program.
If you currently work for a Shoppers Drug Mart
store and are interested in attending these training
programs, please first notify your Associate,
and ask him/her to provide their recommendation
to the Student/Intern Recruitment Coordinator.
Please also email your resume and a cover letter
to the Pharmacy Recruitment Specialist explaining why you would like to participate in
the training program. Please also indicate whether
you have previously attempted the exam.
Applications will not be considered without an
Associate Recommendation, as well as, a resume and cover
letter. |
