Shoppers Drug Mart announced on February 10, 2005 that it had initiated
quarterly dividend payments and that its Board
of Directors had declared a dividend of ten cents
per common share, payable April 15, 2005 to shareholders
of record as of the close of business on March
31, 2005. Subject to financial results, capital
requirements, available cash flow and any other
factors that the Board of Directors may consider
relevant, it is the intention of the Board of
Directors to declare a comparable quarterly dividend
on an ongoing basis. It is expected that future
dividend payments will be made to shareholders
of record as of the close of business on the last
business day of each calendar quarter. It is expected
that each related payment date will be the fifteenth
day of the month following the record date, or
if such day is not a business day, the immediately
preceding business day.
The Company announced on February 8, 2006, that
its Board of Directors declared a dividend of
12 cents per common share, payable April 13, 2006
to shareholders of record as of the close of business
on March 31, 2006. This represents an increase
in the Company's quarterly dividend payments of
20%, resulting in an annualized dividend payment
of 48 cents per common share.
The Company announced on February 8, 2007 that its Board of Directors declared a dividend of 16 cents per common share, payable April 13, 2007 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 30, 2007. This represents an increase in the amount of the Company's quarterly dividend payments of 33.3%, resulting in an annualized dividend of 64 cents per common share.
The Company announced on February 5, 2008 that its Board of Directors declared a dividend of 21.5 cents per common share, payable April 15, 2008 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 31, 2008. This represents an increase in the amount of the Company's quarterly dividend payments of 34.4%, resulting in an annualized dividend of 86 cents per common share.
The Company announced on February 12, 2009 that its Board of Directors has declared a dividend of 21.5 cents per common share, payable April 15, 2009 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 31, 2009. This represents an annualized dividend payment of 86 cents per common share, unchanged from the prior year, and equates to a dividend payout ratio, expressed as a percentage of fiscal 2008 net earnings, of 33%.
The Company announced on February 11, 2010 that its Board of Directors has declared a dividend of 22.5 cents per common share, payable April 15, 2010 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 31, 2010. This represents an increase in the Company's quarterly dividend payments of approximately 5%, resulting in an annualized dividend of 90 cents per common share.
All dividends paid by the Company in 2006 and,
unless otherwise indicated, all dividends to be
paid by the Company subsequent to 2006, are designated
as eligible dividends in accordance with
subsection 89(14) of the Income Tax Act (Canada) and any applicable corresponding provincial
provisions.
