I loved the old formula, this one is awful

The new formula is heavy, sticky, greasy and has a very noticeable white cast. It also contains pore clogging ingredients high up in the ingredient list. I wish they would bring back the old version. This new one is awful by comparison. I tried to review on the Avene Canada site and they deleted my...

I have dry skin, so this sunscreen is perfect for me. I have been using it for years instead of foundation. Can't live without it!

Hard Pass

About as elegant on the skin as house paint. Leaves a very noticeable white cast. I tried using it up on my arms and hands instead of just throwing it out, but it's impossible to rub it in; it just gets caught in arm hair and stays white. I like the texture and packaging but at the end of the day, this was unwearable for me and ended up in the trash.

This is the only mineral sunscreen I know of sold in Canada at present with as high a percentage of both Zinc AND Titanium Dioxides, each one of which supplements the other for broad spectrum protection against both UVA and B rays. Shiseido recently reformulated their pale blue mineral screen to in part lower these active ingredients, which used to be the highest levels of both, ostensibly making a less effective though perhaps more cosmetically acceptable product (I can attest to both the whitneness and efficacy of the former product). The Avene applies well; is not nanotechnology so it sits on top of the skin to deflect rather than absorb rays; and feels comfortable and skin nurturing, though it does leave a white cast. The bottle is also smaller than what would be desired and the product is not indicated as sweat and water resistant. It removes readily with a good oil based cleanser. All in all I'm happy this product exists on the market in Canada as it is more unique than it should be and is probably one of the very best if not the best mineral based options available. There should be a larger sized option for the body as even for the face neck and chest this one goes pretty fast and the larger white bottles only use titanium dioxide and are even pastier as I understand it. I'm quite annoyed that Avene has eliminated its advanced chemical filter and titanium dioxide hybrid screens that it had sold for years in Canada (with more advanced versions available in Europe) though the last 50ml iteration can still be bought on their website as of this review. That formula should have been updated to make it even more powerful rather than Avene putting out something retrograde even if with established efficacy, using older generation chemical UVB filters and zinc oxide. I hope Avene will re-release those products and definitely not mess with a good thing when it comes to this one.

White paint

This sunscreen is basically white paint. I am extremely pale, generally using the second if not the palest option for foundation… and this makes me look like a ghost. It doesn't blend well at alll…. It's horrible

Leaves white cast and heavy formula

This has to be the worst sunscreen I've ever used. It has a ridiculous white cast that won't go away no matter how much you rub it in (my face started to have a purple hue to it after rubbing so much from it being red and the sunscreen making it purple). The formula also feels heavy and doesn't absorb into your skin well. Overall, I would never recommend.

Awful texture, smell, and white cast

I was looking for a new non-tinted mineral sunscreen and purchased this one. I ended up throwing it out after a dozen uses. It has a thick, sticky texture that takes forever to blend, and leaves a terrible white cast. I tried using bronzing drops to offset the white cast but it didn't work. I find the smell unpleasant and overwhelming. After using this a few days in a row I noticed significant skin irritation, and my skin isn't usually overly sensitive. There are so many better options out there, don't waste your money.

leaves white-lavender cast on skin

Submitted 3 years ago

I purchased this product as I was looking for something that would provide good protection without a white cast (I have an olive complexion). I do believe this product provides good protection as I could still feel it on my skin hours afterwards, but unfortunately, not only did it have a white cast, but on my skin appeared almost lavender even after patting it in and giving time for absorbtion. It didn't go away until I washed it off. I am very disappointed as I felt that at this price point, it should deliver on promises. It is completely unusable if I am going anywhere in public.

Not worth the price

It leaves a yellow sort of cast when you remove it, you cannot wear white with this, the stain will never get off. I would not recomendado it for sensitive dry skin. Maybe for oily because it leave a mat finish. But again. Not with the price of ruining your white clothes

I purchased from SDM thinking that a mineral formula would be good.. This sunscreen is very thick and glue to your face. If you dont mind to look like a clown go ahead and buy it.. If I had the receipt I d return it.
