I had gone through many bottles both in spray and tube format of the previous avene sunscreens both for face only and face and body but picked this up as the old formula based on the actives avobenzone titanium dioxide otocrylene and newer generation Tinosorb was apparently discontinued. I would imagine avene wanted a formula better suited to sport and the elements and wanted to eliminate the now controversial otocrylene. This has a decent but not very high amount of zinc oxide so when applied to the face you won't have a problem with a white cast once the product is rubbed in. The chemical uvb filters are older generation but I'm guessing effective enough. Zinc is known to be more effective for UVA than B though still covers both. The product is quite slick and heavy on the skin which isn't that comfortable for normal everyday use and exposure. The upside is that I think the product offers good, even very good, though perhaps not outstanding broad spectrum protection and is ideal when used as a swim and sport option when prolonged skin wetness is involved. Another good aspect is ihat it's fragrance free and suitable for the face and body of sensitive skin so reactive skins and children should have no issue at all. I'm not sure I'd repurchase but I definitely found this to be a solid product with some nice non active/skin care ingredients as well and no nasty ones.
