Seems to contain one or more irritants

I received a full sized version of this cream as part of a set not having sampled it previously. The cream unlike its day cream counterpart contains a skin brightening/lightening agent called phenylethyl resorcinol designed to inhibit melanin production in the skin. I researched the ingredient and ...discovered that it has been found to be associated with allergic contact dermatitis, though I'm unsure in what concentration. Upon applying this cream, which has a cream/gel texture-certainly not for oily skins but not a nurturing drier skin type formula either-i experienced some discomfort, irritation and sensitization. The skin on my cheeks still felt a bit sensitive the next day and I don't think I have particularly sensitive or reactive skin. I am not sure if this ingredient alone or in conjunction with others in the cream, like alcohol, or salicylic acid (doubtful as the latter is a gentle exfoliant in weak concentration) fragrance or certain other actives or oils is the culprit but if I react again I will return the product. In general I am disappointed with the quality of biotherm facial care products. Reformulations and discontinuations in addition to ill conceived or researched new formulas have gone a long way in turning me off of the brand.
