Not the same quality exfoliant as the previous one

This is a good, nice, Clarins product and my relatively poor rating has more to do with Clarins' approach to its update of the previous one step exfoliating cleanser rather than mere criticism of the current product. The botanical cocktail in the new one doesn't add to those of the new range foamin...g cleansers and kiwi has now been swapped for orange extract. I'm neutral on that swap. Both ingredients are likely energizing and perhaps collagen promoting as they contain vitamin C but was problematic about orange extract? What's better about kiwi? The scents are quite similar with the current formula being identical to the old cotton seed foaming cleanser. Definitely a nice, familiar, Clarins scent though not an improvement on the previous one step. My biggest criticism has to do with the nature of the exfoliating particles in the new formula-they are significantly less dense and the granules texture and size seemingly less uniform. You definitely get a few scratches here and there but I much preferred the texture and efficacy of the previous exfoliant. The new one is more like a glorified lathering cleanser. On the positive side, the surfactant element is now both very gentle and concentrated making the new cleanser a pleasure to use, long lasting and perhaps more tolerable to very dry skin types which I don't have. I wish Clarins would make genuine improvements and genuinely positive only tweaks rather than throwing out the baby with the bath water and following a trend of whittling down and universalizing its famous and exclusive range of botanical ingredients so as to make each product a little less different than another. As a 2 in 1 the new one step is for me an inferior product; however as a lathering facial product merely, it's definitely nice, just a bit redundant in the context of the other cleanser offerings. I have used a few sample sizes of the new product but was happy to pick up a full sized version of the previous one step during boxing week, when Clarins puzzlingly last chances many discontinued favourites.
