Once someone is vaccinated, do they need to continue following social distancing practices, wearing masks and washing their hands?

Once someone is vaccinated, it is important for pharmacists to communicate to their patients that it’s still important to practice social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands, and continue to practice all the safeguards against COVID- 19. The reason is twofold. Firstly, the vaccine will take several weeks to provide any level of protection to yourself and secondly, it will require a lot more people to be vaccinated before we can develop any level of herd immunity in the community. Also, it’s possible that after a vaccine, you can still be an asymptomatic carrier and spread COVID-19 to other people. So, it’s really important that we continue to safeguard against the spread by using all the public health www.lampyon.ca Health Communications Agency measures that have been provided to the general public.

Whether you have questions about your prescription medications, over-the-counter products, immunizations, or other health concerns, our pharmacists are here to help.
