Symptoms of COVID-19

Reported cases of COVID-19 show that symptoms may range from little-to-no symptoms to severe illness and death.3 Most symptoms are usually mild and may begin up to 14 days after exposure.

Common symptoms include:

  • New or worsening cough
  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • Headache
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

Other symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Sore throat
  • Painful or difficulty swallowing
  • Red eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Decreased appetite
  • Loss of smell or taste

Urgent symptoms requiring immediate medical attention include:

  • Significant difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Feeling confused
  • Difficulty waking up
