Great smartwatch - Garmin Venu 3s

Submitted 2 years ago

By Satisfied buyer

From Estevan, Sk

I am 68 years old and bought this smartwatch recently; I have had it for less than a week. This is an impressive unit and a significant upgrade from my vivosmart 4 watch. I love the various options - and I have not used all of them yet! I can read my text messages and emails with ease. The apps are easy to see and read and I can also move the order around to suit my life style. I like the good morning screen with the weather, time etc. Nice colors on the face as I have the ivory-band Garmin Venu 3s. Garmin did it right this time! I just love it so far. The battery life seems good but will only likely last for 7 to 9 days. This works for me as this watch has more features than my previous one and I anticipate it will drain the battery more quickly! Nicely done Garmin! I gave a 4 star for value as I found this watch a bit expensive when compared to other similar watches!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

A frustrating item

I purchased this to keep track of my fitness activities. Terrible interface. I want to know why this watch shuts down as soon as you stop swinging your arm. If you carry something or use a cart, it doesn't work. I also cycle but don't want to spend a small fortune on compatible Garmin accessories for only 4 months of the year for the price of this watch, extremely disappointed.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Expected more from a Garmin

Have used for about 3 months. Watch has recorded sleeping sometimes when actually doing intense interval workout which makes me wonder how accurate any info is. Constantly disconnecting from Apple 13 pro phone and much time wasted trying to get it reconnected even though Bluetooth is on both phone and watch. Customer service said they would have someone call back and that did not happen. Watch face does not have as much flexibility for personalization as my previous non-Garmin watch. Does have a pretty good battery life and some good features but because it always disconnects from phone and doesn't automatically reconnect makes some of these features like weather unavailable when needed.

I purchased the device which is not cheap at all. It's a pity that there isn't an automatic sync for contacts like there used to be in an old device I had. Also, it is still not possible to initiate viewing messages and/or sending messages from the watch to the mobile device.

Worst watch I have ever encountered

This watch does NOTHING that was advertised. You cannot answer calls, cannot see text messages, does not interface with most apps including its own. You cannot edit watch faces that are supposedly editable. It's a complete fail and they should not be selling watches at all if this is their product. Returning this NOW!!!!

Battery Life about 7 days, not 10, dissapointing

I bought this smartwatch because the advertised battery life is much longer than comparable devices; I have the 37mm so it's 10 days. It's brand new, but the battery lasts me about 7 days. This is quite dissapointing for me. I have a simple watch face without any movement, lowest display brightness, pulse ox off, wrist heart rate on auto but not broadcasting and off swim, move Iq on, orange shift on, display always on is off, sleep mode on at night. I have turned off everything that I don't use, but I don't want to turn off wrist heart rate and move iq because what's the point of having a fancy watch if I turn off these nice features. It's very misleading to say that the battery life is 10 days. Otherwise, I find that the UI is not super intuitive. When I look at the daily totals for caloris and steps, I want to see the exact numbers for each day, not just a graph. I feel like the market is missing a watch with less whistles and bells but has a longer battery life. I considered the Scanwatch but I really disliked that I couldn't connect it to siri.

Awesome except for FTP?!

I've had the Venu 3s for several weeks and I love almost EVERYTHING about it. It does everything I need it to do. However it doesn't seem to know my FTP and I cannot find any way to change that number. So while I can use it with my powermeter and it displays the data it's "analysis" is completely skewed which sort of makes training with power useless with this device. Kind of hard to believe actually…

The watch is everything they say it is. I love the body battery and detailed sleep stats. Also looking forward to tracking HRV levels. The only thing I had to set up again on the new watch is loading my custom running mix MP3s, and setting up the Data Screens for running to my prefs.

This is an amazing smartwatch! While in the surface it seems more expensive than some of its competitors, the fact that I don't have to pay a monthly fee for ordinary features that should be free, this is much cheaper long term than others and reviewers should consider that in their reviews (they don't). Sturdy and beautiful it works seamlessly with my Pixel 7 and the fact that it uses standard quick release watch bands makes the options endless! I can change out the look at will! Garmin outdid themselves with this one.
