I must have scoured the label for 5 minutes -- and searched fruitlessly online for the info I was seeking -- before I picked one of these up at Superstore against my better judgment. Why? Because it's physically impossible to squeeze 200 mg of magnesium from magnesium bisglycinate (as the label unequivocally states) into anything smaller than a pill that would risk choking a horse (this product's capsules are mid-sized and easy to swallow). It would take nearly 1.5 grams of pure magnesium bisglycinate per pill to yield the 200 mg of elemental magnesium -- from bisglycinate -- promised on the label. This is why other brands that do offer pure magnesium bisglycinate typically offer 100 mg per pill. Those that give the impression that a single pill will offer more than that typically indicate in the fine print that much of that magnesium is coming in the (inferior and highly laxative) form of magnesium oxide. The low price of this product is also way out of whack with what other brands charge for pure magnesium bisglycinate, which is as expensive -- compared to magnesium oxide -- as it is (euphemism alert) "extra gentle on the stomach" and, for the same reason, bioavailable to the rest of the body.
