For the nose: Using the contour shade, apply two lines down the sides of your nose, starting near the beginning of your brow and ending at the tip of your nose. Blend product to create shadows for a slimming effect. Remember: these lines determine how slim your nose will be, so place them accordingly. Using the highlighting shade, accentuate the bridge by applying a thin line from the top to the ball of your nose and blend. This draws the light to the center of your nose, making it look straighter. To make the nose look shorter: Apply the contour shade to the very tip and underneath the tip between your nostrils to add shadows for the illusion of a shorter nose. For cheeks: Suck in your cheeks to find the perfect hollow from your ear to the corner of your mouth. Using the contour shade, apply along this line and blend upward to create the illusion of sculpted cheeks by creating shadows. Blend upwards to instantly give the illusion of a facelift. Apply blush right above the contoured line - on the apples of your cheeks - to create a naturally flushed look. For the jawline: Apply the contour shade underneath your jawline to square off your chin for a more sculpted look. Studio Tip: Also a great eye shadow in a pinch! While the light/medium color palette was right for my fair skin, I didn't feel it had enough pigmentation. The highlight was also not nearly as shimmery or shiny as I prefer. This is definitely a formula that NEEDS well-hydrated skin + primer to perform its best. I would try it again as it wasn't a bad product but there are dozens of better contour palettes available. This contour set matched my skin tone perfectly! They all blended so well and set beautifully on my face. The powders are light, and look very polished once blended. The palette itself is also fairly compact and easy to stuff in my purse. Overall, I'm happy and so is my husband….that I can lay my head on his shirts without leaving my face behind. I really enjoyed using the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit. I mostly use it in the morning when I'm getting ready, and sometimes at night for special occasions. The formula feels very smooth and lightweight on my skin, not heavy or cakey at all. It blends easily and allows me to build the intensity depending on how natural or glam I want my look to be.
