The Go Anyway Wireless Speaker

I'm new to the XB series of bluetooth wireless speakers. I think the SRS-XB100 is the 3rd or 4th iteration of the small wireless XB (extra bass) speaker line. I'm more familiar with the older generation SRS-X11 wireless bluetooth speaker which I have been using for some years (up until now). The X...B100 is larger than my old X11 speaker and designed to be waterproof and dustproof so they can be taken out and about with minimal worry. It has a convenient carry strap (which can also be removed if not needed). The XB100 textured rubberised surface is very nice. It's full range speaker is protected by a grill where as it's passive radiator, located towards the base, partially obscured. There are buttons for power, bluetooth, and volume. The play/pause button also serves as track skip (when playing music). If there is an incoming call the same button will allow calls to answered (or ended) to allow the unit to be used as a speaker phone which I found very useful. The XB100 does not directly give battery status but the battery status is shown in the Sony Music Centre app. The same information is also shown in my android phones own bluetooth connection settings. Although the XB100 is shown in the Sony Music Centre app there is no option to use to speaker as part of a group of other speakers as the XB100 does not have Wi-Fi support. I've been using the XB100 around my home (living room, kitchen, and bedroom) and I found the XB100 to have a surprisingly full sound for its size. It's a very different sound compared to my SRS-X11 (which sound lightweight in comparison) because its an XB speaker. Interestingly, the highs were also extended. The sound of the XR100 is closer to the SRS-X33 in terms of its bass output and overall sonic output, there is plenty of bass energy. Wherever I used the XB100 it gave a much more dynamic and musical representation compared to my X11 speaker. The battery performance was fantastic as I could easily get through a normal days use (listening to music, streaming videos, listening to podcasts etc) without the battery running down. One surprising omission is that there is no aux port so devices without bluetooth cannot be connected with the speaker. I guess its a speaker designed for modern times where connecting wirelessly is preferred. Fast Pair technology has replaced NFC for quick bluetooth connectivity. Just like my SRS-X11 speaker, the XB100 can be paired with another XB100 to form a stereo pair. That is how I have been using the X11 and that is how I shall be using the XB100 once I get another unit.
